This policy explains what personal data BeakThread collects, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short and in plain language because you deserve to actually understand it.
Who we are
BeakThread, based in Finland, is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@beakthread.com.
What we collect and why
- Order data (name, shipping address, email, phone if provided, items ordered): to process, produce and deliver your order and to provide customer support. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Payment data: payments are processed by our payment providers (such as Stripe or PayPal). We never see or store your full card number. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Account data if you create an account: email, password (hashed), order history. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Newsletter: your email address, only if you sign up. You can unsubscribe any time via the link in every email. Legal basis: consent.
- Customer support messages: what you send us, so we can reply. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Website usage data: anonymized analytics and, with your consent, advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy. Legal basis: consent.
Who we share data with
We share data only where necessary to run the store:
- Print and fulfillment partners receive your name, shipping address and order details so they can produce and ship your order.
- Shipping carriers receive your name, address and contact details for delivery.
- Payment providers process your payment.
- Email and hosting providers that run our website and send order emails.
- Analytics and advertising providers only with your cookie consent.
We never sell your personal data. Some providers may be located outside the EU/EEA (for example in the United States). Where that is the case, transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep data
- Order and invoice data: 6 years after the end of the financial year, as required by Finnish accounting law.
- Account data: until you delete your account or ask us to.
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.
- Support messages: up to 2 years.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email hello@beakthread.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi) or your local supervisory authority.
Security
Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Payment data is handled entirely by PCI-compliant payment providers. Access to order data is limited to people who need it to serve you.
Children
Our store is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we update this policy, the date at the top will change. Significant changes will be communicated on this page.
